Good Vocal Hygiene

image2312

Hydrate

Drink fluids 6-8 glasses of water a day. Frequent sips, rather than intermittent large volumes, helps hydrate the lining of the throat.  Inhale water vapour using a steamer cup or a cold air mister.

Avoidance

Avoid irritants such as alcohol, fruit juices/squashes, carbonated drinks as well as inhalation of cleaning/industrial chemicals.

Clean

Gargle with tepid water especially after the use of asthma inhalers. Use a Spacer device with inhalers

Rest

Stress leads to strain. Spend time during the day relaxing. Talk less - cutting down talking will help rest the voice. Avoid using a loud voice
